Our dog training programs include everything from instructions on housebreaking, basic obedience, behavior modification, through obedience competition. Our primary goal is to help you create a lifelong friend by teaching the dog to be more obedient, confident, well-mannered and generally just enjoyable to be around.
Services
DogSense Obedience, Inc has been in business in the Lakeland, Florida area for over 15 years and is solely owned by Debbi Snyder who began training in 1965. We offer dog training classes for every level of obedience. Our programs are specifically designed to work with the family pet, recognizing that these experiences need to be fun for both owner and dog.
All dogs must be current on all vaccines. We require the following: Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, Bordetella/Kennel Cough (EVERY 6 MONTHS), and the Canine Influenza (initial shot and booster). Dogs must also be internal parasite free and must be on a flea/tick control (such as Front-line or Advantix). Whether your dog is young or old, learning the basics or improving on existing training, we have a program for you! All of our trainers are passionate about dogs and are here to help you and your four-legged friend be the companions you were always meant to be.
At DogSense Obedience we try our best to offer a variety of group classes that will fit your schedule. With morning, evening, and Saturday classes, we're sure to have something that will fit the time frame you need. All forms must be mailed or dropped off at the building with the class registration fee.
Each dog has it's own unique personality and needs. Our staff is available to help you pick the program that will best fit you and your pup. The DogSense team is passionate about helping dogs. If you call during office hours and get the voicemail, it means we are working hard with one of our four-legged clients; leave a message and we'll get back with you as soon as possible.

We have gone through day school, level one, and level two classes. The staff and trainers here are very accommodating and very nice. Also, the training has worked quite well. Our dog, Baker, is a completely different dog compared to when we started training at dogsense. I would highly recommend that you go through their training programs. The day school was amazing!

Very unfriendly staff! Told me a class was available and thenSaid sorry the class filled up one day later. I work a very busy schedule at my job and had discussed in length with the person about a very specific date. and was not told to fill out paperwork immediately! Not told the class would be full less than 24 hours later. They did not seem to care at all.
They seem to value their time more than the customers time. They were rude to me on the phone and not welcoming when I came to the door. amazing how you try to support local business and are treated as if they don't care!

Our dog just completed the two week training program. She was there every day from 8-4:30. At the end of two weeks she was NOT walking nicely on the leash, NOT coming to her name, NOT going to her "place". I really cannot tell that she learned anything at all. When I asked how often they worked with her I was told 15 minutes at a time for a total of 4-5 sessions a DAY!
That's only an hour a day! The rest of the day they sit in a kennel, It was a lot of work to get her there and pick her up each day for almost no result and it was quite expensive. We now have ten group lessons for an hour a week so they can "check on our progress". I hope she makes progress during the group classes!

My Toy Aussie Sherlock and I have been going to Dogsense Obedience since he was 8 months old. I was recommended by previous students. He is a year and a half now. We've completed levels 1-3, and Rally twice. We are currently taking Intro to Agility and Obedience. All the trainers are knowledgeable and so friendly. They all care and it shows. They do everything they can to keep dogs safe.
They have one on one classes. They have more than fair pricing. They will not hesitate to tell you if you are doing something wrong. More of it is for safety reasons they are not just being mean. Sherlock and I love learning so much and Sherlock has so much fun. I don't think we will ever stop going and learning.

Had a great experience and got to learn a lot. The classes are organized, the homework and training activities are clear and you definitely get to learn a lot. The place is always clean and never smells like dog which is definitely great. I trust the trainers and have been able to better understand my pup and how to train her to be obedient. We didn't complete all the levels here but with what I learned regarding on "how to train" I've been able to teach way more tricks at home too.

Dogsense was recommended by our veterinarian. So I called and got lucky the next lessons were getting ready to start with one spot open. I have only been to the first week where Debi does a 2 hour seminar without pup. I was very impressed with Debi and how informative the seminar was. Even without puppy there, she gave so many tips I was able to start working with my Great Dane puppy as soon I got home. She took the time to answer everyone's questions. I can't wait for week 2 with my puppy.

About nine years ago I took my dog (Maggie) to Dogsense and I only did the basic group classes. The group classes are fun and you get to meet lots of other people. The one thing I regret is that I did not continue. Yesterday I adopted a new puppy from PC Animal Control and will be taking her to classes. Debbie has a honest concern for all the dogs that she trains. I also believe that a well train dog is a happy dog.
