First off you will need a good pair of nail clippers that are the right size for your dog. Black nails are harder to do. First, cut a bit off the end. After awhile you should see a dot in the middle of the nail; that is the beginning of the vein. Stop after you see that dot. Afterwards give the dog a small treat.
Shaggy's makes puppy bath time, good clean family fun time. We always receive excellent service and the kids really love being able to get their hands wet and help out. Whatever you need while you're there, someone is always at your service. When we just don't have time, Shaggy's will wash Mackey for us!

We've been bringing our dog here for a little over a year now, and I'm giving up on the place. The first time I brought my dog here, they didn't have any indication of the appointment I made online. Luckily, I had the email confirmation on my phone. The second time I went, the store was locked. I waited several minutes and tried calling. I eventually got on the line with an employee and was told that someone was on the way.

After a few more minutes of waiting, someone finally showed up. Most recently, I stopped by to see if they could do a quick wash and nail trim for my dog since their website says appointments are not needed for these services. The store was unlocked, but all the lights were off. An employee from the neighboring coffee shop told me the groomers wouldn't be in and apologized profusely. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and a dog groomer in inorth Fargo would be super convenient for many, but this place completely lost my trust.

Horrible experience. My goldendoodle was there for 5 hours instead of 3. She can barely walk because she's so sore from standing for so long and from the stress of being there so long. The front desk kid, AJ, was probably the most incompetent person I've ever met. He had no idea how to work the till and lost my dogs nose lead and took 15 min. To find it. On top of all this, there was a random dog roaming around up front who kept working up my dog AND trying to hump her. What a waste of $100 for barely a haircut.

I asked for my pup to be bathed, shaved and dried. They also do not require vaccine records. My pup received a haircut that looked as if a blind person did it. He was not shaved, his fur was uneven all over, no sani cut, ears were still full of fur, eyes still gunky, feet were full of fur on the bottom. Basic grooming was totally ignored. He was also still wet when I received him.

I have only come here once so far (South Location); I will be back. They offer online appointment booking, usually have openings on short notice, and worked with me when I irresponsibly got intoxicated and overslept my alarms causing me to miss my 8 am appointment. They allowed me to slip into an open afternoon slot, and were very accommodating and non judgmental even though I likely still smelled like tequila when I dropped my giant dog off at 1 pm.

I would say, if you're expecting chipper snowflake service, don't go here. They're tired asf and it shows. They aren't rude, but they are to the point and often sound exhausted. I personally don't gaf about that; but if you do, go somewhere else, don't come here and make it their problem. Lol They did a great job on my dog, his nails were perfect, they did exactly what I asked for with trimming his regrowth without cutting him short, while still getting the "problem areas" short enough independently. My dog was very relaxed and in a good mood when I came to get him, and I feel they are very fairly priced for the services they provide. I'll be back!

If you, like me, have come here looking for an in-depth, unbiased review then look no further. i was nervous to bring my dog here because the reviews seemed to have no inbetween. some people loved it, some people hated it. which to me says one thing: inconsistency. my experience when i first walked in the door was fine. i was greeted, they took down some of my information, & then asked me to choose a length for the cut. now for me personally, this is my first time taking a dog to get groomed ever. so i didn't know what to expect & also didn't have any specific preference. i just knew i wanted her to be fluffy & cute when she left, but not messy looking like the way i brought her in. i believe i picked out 5/8 inch. it was their longest option so i went with that because i figured i can always cut more off but i can't put more back on. if you're someone who wants your dog to look exactly like a picture you show them, then it's likely they will not turn out the same. from what i can tell that's just not how this place works. you tell them the length & get what you get. i will say i was initially nervous because when i brought her in, there appeared to be mainly teenage-college aged boys working there. not to say that they aren't trained well, but one reason i chose to bring her to a groomer specifically & not just to petsmart or petco was because i wanted to avoid potentially inexperienced groomers. i feel like maybe this is the reason some people love it here & some people hate it. it all depends on who is cutting your dogs hair. i dropped her off at around 1:45p & had an appointment set up for 2p. as this is my first time bringing my dog in to get groomed i'm not sure how long it typically takes but at around 3:45p i was starting to get impatient. so i called & asked where they were at in the process & they said they were running behind but she should be finished in about a half hour. i decided to go ahead & drive over there early & just wait outside because i had nothing better to do. they called me back at 4:11p & said she was finished & ready for pick up. finally. the moment of truth. i was definitely nervous that i would find my dog completely shaved. but i was pleasantly surprised when they walked through the door with her. i'll leave pictures below as reference but i believe overall they did a good job with the trim. she was soft and still fluffy. smelled amazing. & so calm! not shaking or scared which to me is a good sign they treated her well while she was there. when i got back into the car i gave her a thorough examination. & you know what? it wasn't perfect by any means, but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt in that she's a dog who was being groomed for the first time & probably was squirming & giving them a hard time. & finally, the price. let me tell you i was SHOCKED. when i came in i was told it would be around $40 for a dog her size, which seemed reasonable enough to me. but after it was all said & done it did not come to $40. it was on $29! & that was after leaving a tip. that may have been discounted due to them running behind, or because they felt the cut wasn't very good, so i'm not sure. also my dog is very small, she's still a puppy & currently weighs about 3.5 lbs so it may be due to that as well. overall i'm very satisfied with the experience. i'm not sure if i'll bring her here again because there is actually a different groomer that we wanted to try but they were booked out until july (yikes!) & we needed to get her trimmed fast. if you're looking for the perfect showdog cut, this place isn't for you. but if you are looking for something with decent service, an average groom, & an amazing price, then this is definitely the place for you.

I have had only good experiences at Shaggys, I have only dropped in a couple times a year. At least 3 years now I had them bathe my large dog. They have always taken the time for same day service. I have now used them for nail trim & the young man was very good to my dog. I will continue my patronage there.

I have been using the North Fargo location & love it. I took my dog there 15 minutes after I adopted him - they gave a discount since he was just adopted and I LOVE that it is a do-it-yourself place. My dog is an American Bulldog, 116 lbs. I was able to get him up into the wash area with ease, the owner gave me a quick run down of how to operate the station & best of all I didn't have to do any clean up after (unlike when it is at home). I HIGHLY recommend this place! Will most definitely be returning! Thank you!

Do not, under any circumstances, take an animal here! The wash system they use is inhumane. The staff are horrible. The facilities are gross. And the owner is a jerk. Zero stars.

Don't even know where to begin. I brought a picture (from a previous grooming before moving to Fargo) with very specific instructions of cutting to the shortest length all around evenly. I didn't want any areas to be longer, just a simple cut.so I thought. When I went to pick him up, I was completely dissatisfied, but the groomer had already left and I had to go back another day.

The next day, I met the groomer and asked about the grooming he gave my dog and he kept repeating that my request was impossible and that any other groomer would have similar problems. I explained that if he didn't think he could do what I wanted to just give me a refund. He clearly stated, "Take him somewhere else. I'm not going to groom him." I actually gave this 2 stars instead of 1 only because he gave me my money back.

What made me really laugh was when I showed the groomer the pictures I took immediately after I picked up my dog. He asked if it was the same dog! I don't think he could believe how badly it looked either.

Great self serve wash! Never used one like that before and it worked great. Very quick (and I have a 100lb dog). Plus got his nails trimmed! Reasonable prices for what we needed done. New to the area and glad I found a wash that I like.

This place is very inconsistent. The first time I went, I only wanted my mini schnauzer to have a trim as it was winter time and I like his hair to be longer and curly. They did a great job. However, when I returned to have him groomed for summer, I wanted it shorter, but still not completely shaved. I gave very specific instructions (and even showed a picture) of how I wanted him cut.

I picked him up and his beard is very choppy and uneven. The fur on his back legs was cut considerably shorter than his front, even though I specifically asked for it to bet left longer. He also has patches on the side of his face where it is super short and not blended. I am very disappointed as I paid $50 for their service and could have done a similar hack job at home for free. I am not sure if I just got a different groomer this time or what happened, but I will not be going back.

This place was a joke, I brought my 55lb dog in to wash him myself. the menu says that a large dog is $20 and extra large dogs are $23 for self-wash. After washing my dog myself and drying him off, I went to pay and they told me that it was going to be $40 because he was so big! After I told the cashier that this was a joke she said that thier policy is to up charge all of the customers. be warned that the prices that show do and will change after services are rendered.

My advice, proceed with caution. I took my three yorkies to the north salon for grooming and ended up with one in surgery. The groomer had clipped one of my dogs eyelids (yes, eyelid) and didn't tell us until we went to pick them up. She was remorseful, but told us to watch it and to go to the vet if it got worse and said they would cover the charges. I'm not a vet but my gut told me to immediately call the emergency clinic when I saw this (as it was a Saturday) and we are dealing with my dog's eyesight.

They immediately told me to come in to get it sutured as it normally won't heal straight and will scratch her cornea until blindness. My fiance called the salon and talked to the manager, who yes, said it was "another bill he'd have to pay." In no way were they remorseful or even empathic towards the situation. I understand that mistakes can happen, but at least be proactive on the situation and be accommodating!

My poor little girl had to undergo surgery and is in a cone for 10 days with stitches in her eyelid. If we were treated better with more respect from the manager, this review wouldn't be here.
