Starr Dog Behavior

I signed up my Schnoodle and Bichon with Starr Dog Behavior for a three week training - based solely on (great) yelp reviews. The reviews (thankfully) were spot on. Joseph really knows what he is doing and helped me and my dogs tremendously. I only wish I'd enlisted his help years earlier. It's an investment but it is definitely worth it!

I have several times referred to Joseph as the Cesar Millan of Dallas and for good reason. My dog Zoey had the most amazing transformation after her 3 week board and train with Happy Paws. Joseph was great about understanding exactly what issues needed to be addressed with my dog and how to handle them, all while be accommodating to my schedule. My dog had pretty severe anxiety that manifested itself into bad walking behavior and destructive tendencies when left alone.

After the program she has great walking etiquette, significantly reduced separation anxiety, and is crate trained. Joseph trains not only your dog but also you on how to be a more responsible dog owner and has allowed both me and Zoey to enjoy life more. A truly priceless experience!

Very knowledgeable, and has a pointed transfer of that knowledge transfer that works well.

Would highly recommend 100% that you do a session with Joseph as soon as possible if you are having any issue with your dog. We adopted a golden retriever puppy, 6 months, having a lot of trouble pulling on the leash and walks had become miserable quickly. Was referred to Joseph via the folks at uptown pup, reached out and he was able to get me an appointment within a week. Had a terrible walk w the puppy two nights ago and the pulling was quickly escalating, asked Joseph if he possibly had an last minute slots I could squeeze into, he got us in the same day (last night), worked wonders with our dog in just one session, and he stayed late in the session (I lost track of time) to make sure he answered all of our questions.

We have only had a single session with him so far but have implemented what he suggested and can already see significant improvements in behavior. We are planning on weekly appointments for a while. Couldn't recommend higher.

Joseph has helped a great deal with my dog in just two sessions so far! My dog is very anxious and unwelcoming to strangers within the home. If you're looking for a trainer who is going to sugarcoat your dog and the progress you're making, Joseph is not the one. He will be very honest and firm with you and how to give your dog a calm and happy life. But, you have to be willing to work on yourself too.

Joseph and the Happy Paws group were very helpful and responsive when I had questions regarding a untrained and chaotic pug. Joseph was able to assist with quick and accurate tips on how to get the dog under control. I was able to get professional help with this dog in a short amount of time. Thank you Happy Paws.

Happy Paws DFW was awesome. My dog had major anxiety issues I wasn't sure how to handle him especially at home. With just 3 weeks of working with Joseph Rocky is way more calmer around the house and I'm able to communicate with him way better than I was have before. Highly recommend Joseph for any of your dog training needs.

My training went extremely well and has made a dramatic difference in our activities. Prior to working with Joseph, my frenchie Sasha would pull during our walks, bark at strangers, and ignore me. Now, the difference is night and day. She never pulls, sits when we tell her to, and is calm during the walks. I would 100% recommend Joseph to anyone who wants to teach their dogs the basics or even advanced training. Thank you again Joseph for all the great training and tips. Our 5 year old Labrador just came home from the board and train program offered by Joseph. From the first day we met Joseph he was professional and detailed in his explanations on how his program works. We could really tell he has a passion for helping dogs and their owners. After our first meet and greet/assessment meeting I could tell Joseph himself has a lot of experience and training with dogs and made us feel comfortable leaving our dog with him because I could see he cares about each dog like it's his own.

Throughout the time our dog was staying with Joseph he kept us updated on the progress and even discovered some things about our dog we hadn't realized ourselves may had been contributing to his behaviors. We originally expected our dog needed to get back to some behavior basics and structure however after a few days with Joseph he determined that we were also dealing with anxiety in our dog and he explained how the training would be a different structure and ultimately a lifestyle change for our dog.

We had sent our dog to a training program when he was a puppy and we much preferred the personalized training our dog, and us, received from Jospeh. We 100% feel our dog is leaving Joseph's board and train program a better dog and we have the tools to continue with his training. We plan to use Joseph's additional services, such as pack walks as well.

Joseph is so knowledgeable and passionate about dog training and care! He's really responsive and answered all my questions. I always feel comfortable trusting him with my lil babe Bear!

I'm not sure 5 stars are enough for the work that Joseph does. He did such a phenomenal job with my pup (and by pup, I mean old grumpy man). For a while, walking my pup was the worst part to my day as he didn't do well with other dogs living in a high traffic area. Now, my pup and I are taking long walks on the Katy trail with no problems. Not only is he great with dogs, he is great with humans. I've learned so much about what I could do better to make it easier on my pup. and myself. Such a great experience all the way around!

Our 8 month old pup had uncontrollable energy and was terrible on the leash. Joseph walked us through what It looked like to be a pack leader on walks and at home. We covered place training, thresholds, giving our dog confidence and correctly handling him on the leash. In just four sessions we saw lots of improvement and feel more confident in our training.

Mitzy and I had one session with Joseph. He was able to see us the same day I reached out to him, as I was concerned about recent behavior. With that one session, I was able to address my concerns immediately. The training session is truly for both the dog and the owner. Joseph explains how you can meet the needs of your dog so that your dog can trust and rely on you, and Vice versa. Mitzy has a strong prey drive and a tendency to jump. Getting Mitzy to sit in a public setting was almost impossible, and I could never even think of not holding her leash.

Now I can know that I can trust Mitzy to listen in public, and she trusts me to keep her safe. A huge plus are also all the adorable photos we can take, and the compliments from other people every time we're in public. All of this improvement was after one session and I fully intend to continue training with Joseph.

Happy Paws has been so perfect for my German shepherd. Joey made impressive progress with my stubborn pup within the first 30 minutes of the first session. He's gentle but firm and puts my dog at ease. I highly recommend him for training.
