The Deep Peninsula Dog Training Club originated after World War II under the leadership of Charles and Helen Wunderling who had a kennel in the area. Club members met regularly in a warehouse in San Carlos where Charles, who had been a professional dog trainer and dog handler during World War II, trained club members on Fridays and provided a place where members were welcome to go everyday to train. They held their first trial in 1954 at Barron Park Elementary School. The catalog may be viewed in PDF format at (5 MB version, 12 MB version).
Whether your interest is training your dog to be a good citizen and family member or to enter obedience competition, we have the classes necessary to meet these goals. Classes are open to both purebred and mixed breed dogs. What days do you have classes? All our training classes are on Monday evenings.
Could your dog pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test? Both purebred and mixed breed dogs are welcome to participate in this program. This program stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. Deep Peninsula DTC sponsors one test per year, at a cost of $16. The test is open first to our students, then club members, and if openings are available, to the general public.

I love this dog club! My black lab and I started off in the puppy class, which was extremely useful for basic obedience. I learned so much about dog training and obedience! We love the trainers who are all very knowledgeable and extremely patient and kind. We moved up to the next class level and kept going for about 2 years. I moved out of the area, but wish there was a group half as dedicated down here in Southern California! DPDT club is an excellent club!
